On May 21, 2026, in the heart of Old Montreal, the world premiere that sci-fi and virtual reality fans have been waiting for will finally take place. The Black Mirror Experience — the first large-scale free-roam VR attraction ever built entirely around the universe of Netflix’s cult series Black Mirror — is opening its doors.
The project, developed by Univrse and Banijay Live Studio, marks a turning point for the entire location-based entertainment (LBE) industry. While immersive VR attractions have so far been limited mostly to cultural and historical narratives (like Horizons of Khufu or Titanic), a blockbuster franchise with millions of fans is now entering the arena. And according to industry experts, this could completely change the game.

This is not just “another VR quest.” It’s a 60-minute immersive adventure that blurs the line between the physical and digital worlds. Unlike traditional VR games where you follow a pre-written script, here the story adapts to your decisions in real time.
Groups of up to six participants (ages 12 and up) are invited to the exclusive opening of the showroom of the fictional corporation Phaethon Labs. The tech giant is about to unveil its most ambitious creation yet — LifeAgent, a robot companion designed to simplify your life, understand your desires, and help you become your best self.
“At first, everything feels seamless. Reassuring. Almost perfect. Until it doesn’t…” — that’s how the creators describe the premise.
The attraction’s key feature is the advanced artificial intelligence called LifeAgent. Before the session begins, each participant undergoes a full-body 3D scan. Based on this data, a photorealistic digital twin is created that mirrors your movements and facial expressions inside the virtual space with stunning accuracy.
But LifeAgent is more than just an avatar. It’s a fully realized character that acts simultaneously as a guide, a monitor, and potentially an antagonist. The AI dynamically responds to your emotions and decisions, blurring the boundaries between free choice and programmed narrative. In the best traditions of Black Mirror, technology here becomes not just a tool but a full-fledged character — sometimes a friend, sometimes a foe.
The premiere takes place on May 21, 2026, at the Infinity Experiences venue in Old Montreal (2 De la Commune St W). This is the same location that previously hosted Excurio’s immersive expeditions. The venue’s capacity is impressive: up to 2,000 people per day thanks to a staggered session schedule.
Tickets are already on sale through the official website and partners (including FeverUp). Given the buzz surrounding the project, organizers strongly recommend booking in advance.
Montreal is just the first stop. It has already been announced that on June 4, 2026, Black Mirror will open in Madrid (Espacio Delicias), and from June 20 to September 6, the attraction will run in New York City at The Shed. Additionally, the project received a Special Mention in the Immersive Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
The Black Mirror Experience is more than just entertainment. It’s a bold experiment testing whether the industry is ready to move from “cultural relics of the past” to “cultural touchpoints of the present.” And if this format works with a mainstream franchise, we’re about to witness an explosion of location-based VR attractions worldwide.
