Scallywag Tag sits in the western reaches of Cincinnati, on Glencrossing Way in the West Side neighborhood near Delhi Township. It’s a self-contained family entertainment center that bills itself as Cincinnati’s only pirate-themed venue, and it packs a surprising amount into one building.

A Two-Story Pirate Battlefield

The centerpiece is a two-story laser tag arena designed as an upscale hide-and-seek gaming platform in a high-tech environment. The designers blended the 18th-century world of pirate ships and a quaint Caribbean village with black lights and the latest laser tag vests and phasers, so you’re ducking around ship rigging and village corners while your vest glows in the dark. The arena holds up to 40 players per game, and each mission starts with a briefing session before a 20-minute round. Players need to be at least five years old, and the facility has run special seasonal scenarios like the October “Zombie Outbreak” mission, where a team has 25 minutes to find the zombie virus cure.

Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf

Alongside the laser tag sits a full 18-hole miniature golf course that runs entirely under black light. The pirate theme carries through here too, with pirates and pirate ships decorating the holes, and the whole course glows as you play. It’s a solid indoor option for families, couples, or groups that want something a little slower-paced than the laser arena, and it’s one of the few blacklight courses in the area.

Arcades and the Topsail Tavern

When you’re done battling and putting, the arcade floor is packed with classic and modern games, including ticket games where you can win prizes. For a break, the on-site Topsail Tavern serves food and drinks — visitors regularly praise the in-house pizza — and it’s a comfortable spot to hang out between games. The tavern can also be reserved for parties and events, so it doubles as a gathering space for larger groups.

Built for Parties, Teams, and Groups

Scallywag Tag is heavily geared toward celebrations and group outings. It was voted the best place to have a birthday party by Best of the West, and it offers structured birthday packages with reserved tables, arcade cards, unlimited pop and popcorn, and pizza options. The venue also handles corporate parties, private facility rentals, church groups, sports teams, and scout troops, with dedicated hosts who walk groups through an itinerary. There’s even an overnight option where you can have the building to yourself from midnight to 7 AM on weekends. The staff are consistently described in reviews as friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful, and the facility is kept clean and well-maintained.
