About
A Whole City of Indoor Combat
BattlegroundZ sits in Lincoln, Rhode Island, a short drive from Providence, inside a sprawling 50,000-square-foot indoor complex on Higginson Avenue. Since 2006 it has grown into one of New England’s largest indoor action-sports destinations, drawing everyone from first-time families to seasoned tactical players.
More Than Just Paintball
The heart of the place is its pair of 20,000-square-foot arenas dedicated to paintball and airsoft. The paintball field is billed as the largest indoor arena in the New England area, with a half-turf, half-concrete layout, several large buildings to move through, hedgehog barriers, and a four-way roadway intersection with a Monte Carlo at its center. BattlegroundZ uses reusable silicone paintballs, so players stay clean and don’t need a change of clothes for the ride home. The airsoft arena shares the same scale and adds theatrical touches — unexpected sound effects, lighting, a hotel, jail, hospital, bus stop, and a four-way intersection complete with a vehicle. New enhancements and game modes are added each week, and there is even a bomb to diffuse. Beyond the two big fields, the complex offers a 5,000-square-foot UV-lit Lazer Wars arena, plus gel blasters, archery tag, dart wars, dodgeball, and a full arcade.
Scenarios, Missions, and Game Modes
Games run in ten-minute rounds with respawn rules, so eliminated players re-enter quickly after a short pause at the respawn point. The classic format has two teams trying to eliminate each other while racing to plant a flag at the opposing base. Airsoft leans on the honor system and ranges from simple force-on-force skirmishes to complex objective-based scenarios, with velocity limits and chronograph checks before play. Lazer Wars uses interactive home bases that fire back and deduct points, and gel blaster games hand each player a fully automatic blaster loaded with 400 water-filled projectiles.
Parties, Teams, and Celebrations
BattlegroundZ is built for group events of nearly any kind — birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, youth groups, fundraisers, and corporate outings. Party packages run from a simple arcade-and-pizza gathering to a full “General” package with unlimited games across every activity and a private VIP room. Corporate team-building packages bundle unlimited play in several arenas with arcade cards, and the staff can customize a package to fit a group’s needs. A dedicated party host sets up, cleans up, and runs the event so the host can simply enjoy the day.
Fuel Up and Kick Back
Between rounds, guests can head to the Mess Hall for chef-created dining options or the Battle Bar for adult beverages, including a range of beers, wines, and spirits. A 5,000-square-foot banquet room hosts parties and functions, and private VIP rooms (Blue, Red, Green, and Purple) are available for larger packages. The on-site 1,200-square-foot Pro Shop stocks helmets, knee pads, barrel covers, and new and refurbished airsoft replicas, with knowledgeable sales staff on hand to help.
Staff and Safety First
Before any arena play, a staff member escorts each group to a safety briefing area for a short video and a thorough explanation of the rules and equipment. Waivers are completed online ahead of time and remain valid for a calendar year. All weapons must be tagged and chronographed before use, ANSI-certified face protection is required, and barrel blockers are mandatory — a level of care that makes the venue comfortable for newcomers while still satisfying experienced players.
