About
A Family-Owned Raceway Between Houston and Galveston
Bay Area Raceway is located in Dickinson, Texas, along the Gulf Freeway between Houston and Galveston. The family-owned entertainment center opened in May 1994 with just a go-kart track and a game room. Over three decades it has grown into a full venue with a laser tag arena, a renovated arcade, and several party rooms, and reviewers say the outdoor track has a pleasant view of the bayou.
Four Kinds of Karts on a Redesigned Outdoor Track
The outdoor track was redesigned and now offers regular go-karts, two-seaters, Super Karts, and ProKarts. A ride lasts about five minutes. Drivers must be at least 55 inches tall to drive alone, while passengers must be at least 36 inches tall and ride with a driver who is 16 or older. ProKart drivers need a valid driver’s license. The venue lists clear safety rules: closed footwear, long hair tied back, loose items removed, and no phones while riding. Visitors say the track feels like having a private course during quieter weekday hours.
A Zombie-Themed, Two-Story Laser Tag Arena
The laser tag arena covers more than 4,000 square feet over two stories, and the venue describes it as zombie-themed. Teams move through the floors and corners, and a reviewer said it is fun competing against friends and family on opposing teams. Laser tag is included in most wristbands and party packages, so groups can combine a race and several rounds of tag in one visit.
A Renovated Arcade With Classic and Modern Games
The game room mixes new and vintage video games with redemption games. Visitors mention classics such as Ms. Pac-Man next to newer titles. Arcade games run on reloadable player cards that guests top up at a self-service station and can reuse on a later visit. The venue also offers value options, including one-hour and all-day wristbands and an after-school special on weekday afternoons.
Birthdays, School Groups, and Team Events
The center has three party rooms and hosts birthdays, company team-building events, school groups, church groups, and scout troops. Party packages run seven days a week, with standard start times from noon to 8 pm. Families may bring food, nonalcoholic drinks, and decorations such as balloons, though alcohol, glitter, and confetti are not allowed. A party host walks guests through the details when they book. Packages combine go-karts, laser tag, arcade player cards, and reserved party-room time, and a speed party option adds a party pavilion for 3.5 hours.
