Ground Zero Airsoft USA is rooted in the Wolcott area, where it first opened its doors back in 2002 inside a small corner of Wolcott Hobby. Today, the club operates from a larger retail and staging location in Waterbury, Connecticut, while its main battlefield — a sprawling 65-acre outdoor field — is located in nearby Terryville. It has grown into one of the most recognized airsoft destinations in the state.

Where History Meets the Battlefield

The outdoor field in Terryville is the heart of the Ground Zero experience. Spanning 65 acres, it features diverse terrain that includes wooded areas, open fields, and a reconstructed Vietnam-era military base complete with trenches, bunkers, and fortified positions. Scattered across the landscape are authentic-looking props such as old trailers, worn-out cars, a helicopter wreck, sandbags, wooden structures, and cut-up metal pipes — all designed to create an immersive tactical environment.

The field is built to accommodate large-scale operations, hosting up to 250 players per battle. With 3 to 4 battles organized per event day, players can take part in morning, afternoon, or full-day sessions. The layout offers plenty of cover and elevation changes, making it suitable for both close-quarters skirmishes and long-range engagements. Sniper towers and elevated positions add an extra layer of strategy for those who prefer to play from a distance.

Scenarios That Keep You Coming Back

Ground Zero runs a variety of themed scenarios that go beyond simple team deathmatch. The Vietnam-style base setup naturally lends itself to mission-based gameplay, including objective raids, hostage rescues, and territory control. Special event days feature all-day scenarios for a flat fee, where players can dive into extended story-driven battles that unfold across the entire field.

The club also hosts regular open play days where walk-on players can join pickup games. The referees on staff are experienced and work hard to keep the action flowing, ensuring that each match is fair, safe, and engaging. Whether you are a seasoned airsoft veteran or stepping onto a field for the first time, the scenarios are designed to be accessible while still offering enough depth to challenge experienced players.

More Than Just a Game Field

Beyond the battlefield, Ground Zero Airsoft USA operates a full retail store and service center at its Waterbury location. The shop carries a wide selection of airsoft replicas — from pistols to rifles, both electric and gas-powered. For players looking to customize or repair their gear, the club offers upgrade and repair services to help build the gun of your dreams. Rental equipment is also available, making it easy for newcomers to try the sport without a major upfront investment.

The club runs rain or shine, so weather is rarely a reason to cancel a game day. Chronograph testing is enforced at every event, with standard rifles and pistols capped at 400 FPS (with .20g BBs) and sniper/DMR platforms allowed up to 500 FPS. After passing chrono, players may use any BB weight of their choosing.

Built for Groups and Celebrations

Ground Zero is a popular choice for birthday parties, corporate team-building events, and group outings. Birthday party packages are available on Saturdays and include pizza, drinks, and a dedicated three-hour play session. The field can accommodate groups of various sizes, from small gatherings of 1–5 players up to larger parties of 16–20. Additional play time can be added for an hourly surcharge, and rental gear is offered at a discounted rate for party participants.

The atmosphere is welcoming and community-focused. The staff and referees take pride in delivering an adrenaline-packed experience while keeping safety and sportsmanship at the forefront. For groups looking for a unique outdoor activity that encourages teamwork, communication, and a bit of friendly competition, this field offers a solid option in central Connecticut.

A Place to Gear Up and Wind Down

While the main focus is on the outdoor action, the Waterbury store serves as a hub where players can browse gear, chat with staff, and prepare for their next game. The facility includes basic amenities such as parking, restrooms, and a staging area. Though the club does not advertise a dedicated banquet hall or lounge, the overall setup is practical and oriented toward getting players onto the field efficiently.

With nearly two decades of operation under its belt, Ground Zero Airsoft USA has built a loyal following among Connecticut airsoft enthusiasts. Its combination of a massive outdoor field, immersive Vietnam-era scenery, and a full-service shop makes it a noteworthy destination for anyone looking to experience airsoft at scale.
