About

Where the Field Sits

Gunny’s Warfare Center calls the rolling countryside of Marshville, North Carolina home, a short drive south of the Charlotte metro area. It bills itself as Charlotte’s first dedicated airsoft-only field, a distinction it has held since opening its gates in September 2012. The setting is pure outdoors — open woodland rather than a warehouse or indoor arena — which gives every game a natural, immersive feel. The field was built by people with roughly a decade of airsoft experience before the first game day, and that hands-on background shows in how the space is laid out and run. It’s a place that treats airsoft as a real sport and a real community, not just a novelty attraction.

Games That Keep You Moving

The heart of the operation is the community game day, hosted every Saturday and Sunday from mid-morning to late afternoon. These open-play sessions welcome anyone who shows up, from first-timers to seasoned players, and the mix of ages runs from about 11 to 70. It’s a genuinely family-friendly setup where parents can play right alongside their kids on the same field. Beyond the regular weekend games, the center stages milsim events — full-day, objective-driven scenarios where the whole session is spent working toward a specific task or mission on the field. These are the events that draw in players looking for something more structured than casual open play.

Terrain Built for Every Style

The field spans roughly 30 acres of varied woodland, with multiple distinct playing areas and around ten different bases scattered across the property. That kind of space means there’s room to take it slow with a beginner’s approach or to push hard as a coordinated team chasing objectives. The natural cover of trees and undergrowth keeps sightlines interesting and rewards players who think about movement and positioning. The terrain is flexible enough that the same ground works for casual walk-on games, team training, and the longer milsim scenarios. It’s the kind of place where a newcomer can learn the ropes without feeling overwhelmed, while experienced squads still find plenty of ground to work with.

More Than Just Open Play

Gunny’s offers a range of services beyond the weekend community games. Corporate events give companies a chance to build communication skills in a high-energy environment, while private birthday parties let a group book the field for themselves with their own referee. There’s also team training for squads that want to sharpen their coordination, and special events throughout the year. For anyone new to the sport, the center stocks rental equipment — AEG rifles, facemasks, and dead rags — along with BBs from Valken and G&G in several weights. That means you can try airsoft before investing in your own gear, with everything needed to play a full community day available on site.

Who It’s Built For

This is a versatile spot that works for a lot of different groups. Birthday parties are a staple, with both community-style packages and fully private bookings available. Corporate teams use it for team-building days that get people communicating under pressure. Families come out on weekends to play together, and serious airsoft teams treat it as a home field for training and milsim events. The staff and refs are experienced and keep the atmosphere safe and welcoming, which is why players keep coming back week after week. It’s a community-first field where the focus is on having a good, safe time slinging plastic with friends, family, and fellow enthusiasts.
