Where Strategy Meets the Outdoors
Heroes Paradise sits on 8.12 acres in the heart of Brandon, Florida. The centerpiece of the property is a two-story clubhouse with 360-degree views overlooking the largest outdoor laser tag course in the Southeastern United States. The venue was built from the ground up by owners Tim and Julie Pennenga, who spent nearly five years designing and developing the space after purchasing the former tennis club in 2015. The result is a thoughtfully laid-out property where gameplay fields, observation decks, and lounge areas all flow together naturally.
Two Worlds of Tactical Laser Tag
The laser tag experience at Heroes Paradise is built around two distinctly different fields. Hades is the flagship arena — a sprawling 32,000-square-foot tactical field that blends industrial structures with jungle-themed terrain. Players navigate through shipping containers, barricades, and natural cover while completing mission objectives that evolve from game to game. The guns used are iCOMBAT SMGs, which feel more like real tactical equipment than traditional phasers, and the missions emphasize communication, strategy, and teamwork over simple run-and-gun play. For those newer to the sport or looking for a lighter experience, Elysium offers a 14,000-square-foot inflatable field with soft obstacles and shelters. It is a more beginner-friendly environment that still delivers plenty of action. Both fields run 90-minute sessions broken into three distinct missions, and players on Hades can hunt for hidden Hero's Cash to unlock upgraded weaponry during gameplay.
Archery Tag and Beyond
Beyond laser tag, the venue offers Archery Tag sessions on the Elysium field. This sport blends the accuracy of archery with the fast-paced movement of dodgeball, using foam-tipped arrows and padded bows. Each session runs about 45 minutes and includes hoverball target practice to warm up before the main event. The rock wall features ValoClimb technology — the only facility in Florida with this interactive climbing system — where climbers can play games like Climball and Shadowlings while scaling the bouldering wall. A flight simulator chair lets visitors pilot WWII aircraft and space fighters, rounding out the indoor activity options.
A Place Built for Gatherings
Heroes Paradise was designed with group events in mind. The property includes six gameplay fields, a covered outdoor deck overlooking the laser tag arena, and an air-conditioned clubhouse where guests can watch the action unfold. The on-site café serves burgers, fries, lattes, smoothies, and other treats, making it easy to spend an entire afternoon or evening without leaving the property. The venue regularly hosts birthday parties, corporate team-building events, and group outings, with event planners available to customize the experience. The owners have also made a point of welcoming local law enforcement, military personnel, and first responders to engage with the community through gameplay.
RC Racing and Surfing — Yes, Surfing
Two unexpected attractions set Heroes Paradise apart from typical family entertainment centers. The Heroes Raceway features both an on-road track for Formula 1-style RC car racing and an off-road clay tri-oval track for trucks and buggies. RC enthusiasts can bring their own vehicles and compete in timed sessions or casual runs. Additionally, the venue operates EpicSurf, a 46-foot-wide wave generator that produces 3-to-5-foot waves for real surfing and boogie boarding. This combination of tactical gaming, climbing, racing, and surfing under one roof makes the venue a genuinely unique destination in the Tampa Bay area.
The People Behind the Experience
Heroes Paradise is a family-run operation with a clear mission: to create bonds between first responders, military families, and the local community through fun and productive activities. The staff is trained to work with groups of all ages and abilities, and reviews consistently mention the attentiveness of the team, especially when accommodating guests with special needs. The owners are often on-site, and the atmosphere reflects their hands-on approach — the facility is clean, well-organized, and built with genuine care for the visitor experience.
