Legacy Adventure Park is located about 30 miles southwest of Chicago, just two minutes from Historic Downtown Lockport, Illinois, easily accessible from Interstates 55, 80, and 355.
Seven Worlds of Adventure — The Themed Playing Fields
Legacy Adventure Park sprawls across 66 acres of forests, lakes, and cliffside trails, featuring seven distinct, movie-quality themed playing fields. Each field is a fully immersive environment built with detailed scenery and props. Carnage is a post-apocalyptic urban battlefield with demolished storefronts, street barricades, and a school bus sniper position. Fallout transports players to a sci-fi landscape with a crashed flying saucer and the ruins of a science facility. Graveyard is a dark, wooded field filled with tombstones, coffin bunkers, mausoleums, and hilltop sniper nests. Sanctuary, the largest field at over 300 by 300 feet, is buried deep in the forest with more than 40 bunkers scattered around and atop "Bunker Hill," making it excellent for three-team battles and capture-the-flag scenarios. Wasteland features armored vehicles, tanker trucks, and the famous CPX transport buses in a battle for fuel. Omen is a mystical woods field with statues, ancient walls, tribal totems, and archaeological artifacts. Ghost Town is a unique oval-shaped Western-themed field measuring 225 by 200 feet, complete with nine buildings, covered wagons, and tall tree cover for shade. A hospitality crew shuttles players between fields to maximize gameplay time.
Choose Your Weapon — Paintball, Airsoft, Low Impact, and Archery Tag
The park offers four main styles of play, each with its own dedicated equipment and rules. Traditional paintball is available for both open play (Saturdays and Sundays) and private groups, with eco-friendly, bio-degradable paintballs provided on-site. Airsoft is equally popular, with strict chronographing procedures and a classification system for rifles, DMRs, and sniper rifles. Players must use the park's eco-friendly biodegradable BBs. For those seeking a gentler introduction, Low Impact Paintball uses specially engineered markers that fire smaller paintballs at reduced speeds, delivering lighter impacts while keeping all the excitement. It is available exclusively for private parties and is particularly well-suited for kids, corporate outings, and first-time players. Archery Tag offers a family-friendly alternative that plays like dodgeball with foam-tipped arrows and bows. Players split into teams, aiming to eliminate opponents and knock out the opposing team's five-spot target. Catching an arrow in mid-air brings back an eliminated teammate.
Beyond the Battle — Basecamp, Dining, and Relaxation
When players need a break from the action, Basecamp serves as the park's central hub. Situated lakeside, it features a cafe and bar where guests can grab snacks, soft drinks, sports drinks, and for those 21 and over, ice-cold beer, seltzers, and ciders. Picnic tables are scattered around the lake, offering a peaceful spot to recharge between games. The park also has a Pro Shop stocked with gear, including HK Army merchandise, and a target range for sighting in equipment before heading to the fields. The atmosphere at Basecamp is relaxed and social — a place where players from opposing teams can sit together, share stories from the day's battles, and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding forest and water. Outside food and water bottles are permitted, and the staff is known for being welcoming and attentive.
Tailored Events — Birthdays, Corporate Days, and Celebrations
While solo adventurers are always welcome during open play, Legacy Adventure Park truly specializes in private parties and custom events. The park's party planners work with groups to create a personalized day of adventure, whether it is a birthday party, company picnic, bachelor or bachelorette party, team-building event, or even a wedding reception. Groups of eight or more can book private play, which includes a private staging area, a personal guide and referee, a private shuttle, and exclusive access to the fields. The park also hosts overnight events such as lock-ins and scavenger hunts, and has hosted large-scale scenario events like the "End of Days" two-day apocalyptic paintball event, which included camping, a beer garden, pyrotechnics, and a players' party. For corporate groups, the combination of tactical gameplay, team-based scenarios, and lakeside relaxation makes for a memorable and effective team-building experience.
Guides, Safety, and the Legacy Experience
The staff at Legacy Adventure Park are referred to as Adventure Guides, and they do much more than just referee games. They lead groups through multiple themed fields, challenge players with custom scenarios, and operate state-of-the-art gameplay technology accessories to enhance the experience. Safety is taken seriously — all players must sign a waiver, attend a mandatory safety briefing, and chronograph their equipment before play. The park enforces strict rules on minimum engagement distances, barrel covers in neutral zones, and protective eyewear standards. The guides are known for being knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and attentive, ensuring that both first-time players and seasoned veterans have a smooth, enjoyable day. The park's commitment to environmental stewardship is also notable — all paintballs and BBs used on-site are eco-friendly and bio-degradable, helping to protect the 66 acres of forest and wildlife that make the setting so special.
