Paintball Kingdom sits on Ansonville Road in Marshville, North Carolina, a small town in Union County about forty minutes east of Charlotte. It is a family-owned outdoor woodsball facility that has been running games since 1999.
A Family-Run Field with Deep Roots
Paintball Kingdom began as a father-and-son project in the late 1990s, born out of a simple frustration: there was nowhere nearby to play. What started as a small “backyard ball” field grew over the years into a serious operation. The family even developed custom parts and upgrades for classic markers like Intimidators, Cyborgs, Spyder, and Tippmann, and ran a vending trailer at major events like World Cup, PSP, NPPL, and CFOA, along with three CFOA tournament teams. As scenario play took hold, the original three-acre woods field expanded into a playable fifteen acres, with crossovers added so that all the outdoor fields can be combined for big games. Today the business has come full circle, focusing on bringing the joy of paintball back to families and friends in a fun, safe setting.
Four Unique Fields for Every Style of Play
The property offers four distinct playing fields with many playable combinations, so the experience changes from game to game. The main attraction is the woodsball terrain, where players move through natural cover across the fifteen-acre expanse. There is also an assault field, where construction on all-new bunkers was recently announced, giving it a fresh tactical layout. When thunderstorms or heavy rain roll in, the action simply moves indoors to a dedicated CQB (close quarters battle) course, so the day doesn’t have to end because of weather. New gravel was recently added to the entrance driveway and field parking lot, and the team is continually updating the fields and pro shop.
Gear, Pro Shop, and On-Site Support
A full onsite pro shop keeps players equipped, with a CO2 and HPA fill station for air refills throughout the day. The shop also operates as a repair facility, stocking parts and accessories for classic markers, and can ship orders to non-local customers. Rental gear is available for those who don’t own their own equipment, including masks, markers, and tanks. Between games, players can relax in both indoor and outdoor staging areas, where they can strategize, refuel, and share stories from the field. The pro shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, while the playing fields themselves are open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM, rain or shine.
Built for Groups, Birthdays, and Team Days
Paintball Kingdom is a natural fit for birthdays, family outings, and team-building events. The staff regularly handles groups, and prepaid weekday private sessions can be arranged for groups of ten or more with advance notice. Whether you come as a group or as an individual, the refs will pair you up and make sure everyone gets into the action. The facility also offers yearly and six-month memberships, which cover entry, gun, tank, mask, and all-day air, so returning players only need to buy paint each visit. This makes it easy for regulars to play every Saturday without worrying about rental costs piling up.
Experienced Refs and a Safety-First Culture
The reffing staff has been with the club for years and takes care of players of all skill levels, from first-timers to seasoned woodsball veterans. Safety is treated seriously here, with strict rules about masks, barrel plugs, and field paint only. The refs are known for looking out for players, even going so far as to physically cover someone if they spot an unsafe condition. The club recommends players be at least ten years old, with younger teens often playing alongside a parent or older sibling for their first time. All players must sign a waiver each visit, and those under eighteen need a parent or guardian signature. It is a welcoming, community-minded place where newcomers are guided through the basics and regulars feel right at home.
