Full-Body Virtual Reality at Fashion Place Mall

Sandbox VR is located inside Fashion Place Mall in Murray, Utah, on the south side of the building near the Red Rock restaurant. It was the first Sandbox VR venue in Utah, so local players no longer have to travel to another state to try it. The venue covers about 4,500 square feet and has four private VR rooms, and the closest mall entrance is the food court.

Private Holodecks With Real Movement and Haptic Feedback

Each group enters a private VR room called a holodeck. Players wear headsets, haptic vests, and motion trackers on their wrists, ankles, and head, using technology similar to that used in major film productions. The system tracks the whole body, so players can walk, duck, reach, and see each other as avatars. Haptic vests let players feel shots, hits, and bites as they happen, and physical props recoil in sync with the game. The venue says that seeing your own body move naturally helps keep the experience comfortable and reduces motion sickness. Rooms host groups of up to six.

Twelve Worlds From Zombies to Dinosaurs

The lineup includes twelve experiences. Zombie fans can choose from the Deadwood series: Deadwood Origins, Deadwood PHOBIA, Deadwood Valley, and Deadwood Mansion. Other options include Stranger Things: Catalyst, Squid Game Virtuals, Seekers of the Shard: Dragonfire, Rebel Moon: The Descent, Amber Sky 2088, Curse of Davy Jones, and UFL. Age of Dinosaurs is a family favorite, where players encounter creatures such as Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus rex. Visitors describe the games as phenomenal and say that even first-time players and kids had a blast.

Staff Who Make First-Timers Comfortable

Reviewers repeatedly name staff members who helped them get suited up and explained the game. One work team of eight played both Stranger Things and Deadwood and praised the hosts, and a family said a staff member made their first VR experience welcoming and comfortable. No gaming experience is required, and one reviewer noted that players may get sweaty and want to return. A weekday Unlimited Pass is also offered for regular players.

Birthdays, Team Building, and Corporate Events

The venue hosts birthday parties, corporate events, and celebrations. The Ultimate Play Bundle fits up to 18 guests with up to three group experiences, cold beverages, and permitted catering, and a private VR room can be booked for a flat group price. The Age of Dinosaurs birthday package gives up to 12 guests a session and an hour in a private celebration space, and families may bring outside food. Reviewers say a birthday for a 35-year-old and a team bonding outing both worked well. Groups can combine different worlds in one visit.
