About
Sandbox VR Toronto is located in the Wellesley area of downtown Toronto, close to Wellesley subway station.
Step Inside a Shared Virtual World
Sandbox VR offers room-scale virtual reality designed for groups to explore the same digital environment together. Instead of remaining in one spot with a headset and controller, participants move freely through a physical play space while their movements are captured and represented inside the virtual world. The technology tracks players through sensors worn on the head, wrists, and ankles. Each guest also wears a haptic vest that recreates selected in-game sensations, such as impacts and hits. Physical props respond to actions in the virtual environment, adding another layer to the experience.
From Zombie Survival to Fantasy Adventures
The Toronto location features a varied collection of multiplayer experiences. Deadwood PHOBIA and the Deadwood series bring horror and survival themes, while Seekers of the Shard: Dragonfire takes players into a fantasy adventure. Squid Game Virtuals recreates competitive challenges, and Stranger Things: Catalyst draws on the atmosphere of the popular supernatural series. Other available worlds include Age of Dinosaurs, Amber Sky 2088, Rebel Moon: The Descent, Curse of Davy Jones, and UFL. The selection ranges from family-oriented exploration to action, science fiction, and more intense horror scenarios, so groups can choose an adventure that suits their interests.
Team Play with Full-Body Motion Tracking
Each session accommodates up to six players, who can see and interact with one another inside the virtual environment. The games are designed around shared objectives, cooperation, and communication rather than isolated individual play. Participants can move, take different roles, and help their teammates complete each mission. A host introduces the equipment and explains the gameplay before the session begins. No previous gaming experience is required. The venue recommends comfortable clothing that allows free movement, and guests under 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the location to sign the required waiver.
Birthday Parties and Private Events
Sandbox VR Toronto hosts birthday celebrations, corporate events, team-building sessions, bachelor and bachelorette parties, graduations, and other social gatherings. The private-session format means a group can enjoy its own virtual adventure together rather than being mixed with unrelated players. The Wellesley venue also offers event space for gatherings. Staff can arrange semi-private areas for celebrations and corporate functions, or convert a VR room into a private lounge or meeting space with audiovisual equipment. This makes it possible to combine a group activity with a presentation, gathering, or celebration.
Guided Sessions and Take-Home Highlights
The experience includes more than the time spent wearing a headset. Staff members help participants get fitted with the equipment, explain the controls, and guide the group through the session. The motion-tracking system also lets players see one another’s movements in the virtual world, helping everyone stay aware of their teammates and surroundings. After the game, guests receive a complimentary mixed-reality highlight video showing their group both inside and outside the virtual adventure. It gives friends and families a way to revisit the session and share memorable moments after their visit. The venue is particularly suited to groups of friends, families with older children, couples, birthday parties, and workplace teams looking for an interactive shared activity.
