Three Rivers Paintball Park

Three Rivers Paintball Park sits on more than 70 acres along Rochester Road in Freedom, Pennsylvania, in Beaver County, roughly 25 minutes north of Pittsburgh. It bills itself as Western Pennsylvania’s largest and longest-running paintball facility, and it has been family owned and operated since 1983.

A Family Legacy on the Field

Three Rivers Paintball has been in the same family’s hands for more than four decades, making it one of the original paintball facilities in the country. The park grew up alongside the sport itself and for 15 straight years hosted the world-famous Amateur Open International tournament. That long history shows in the way the grounds are maintained and the way walk-on players are welcomed. The park is open year-round for private groups and individuals ages 8 and up, with open play on the first and third Saturday of each month. Walk-on players are welcome with no experience required, and the staff emphasizes a safe, fun, and fair experience for everyone who steps onto the field.

Nine Fields, Endless Scenarios

The property spreads across nine different playing fields designed for all skill levels and ages, from woodsball to airball. The terrain is dotted with a remarkable variety of cover and props: crashed cars, a helicopter, a boat, a tank, a wagon, tree forts, turrets, bases, castles, and a fortress. Players can duck behind pavilions, forts, and a full airball setup, giving each game a different feel. Tactical play runs the gamut from classic capture-the-flag paintball to low-impact paintball for younger players and full airsoft military simulation. Airsoft games are more scenario-driven and technical, with objectives and longer, more immersive missions. The park also maintains a dedicated chronograph station to keep all markers fair and within safe velocity limits.

Big Themed Events and Scenario Days

Beyond regular open play, Three Rivers runs large-scale scenario events that turn the whole park into a story. The signature offering is “Star Wars: Jedi Rising,” a full-day paintball scenario game where players choose sides in the Hundred-Year Darkness between the Orthodox Jedi Assembly and the fallen Dark Jedi. The day runs six missions from morning to afternoon, with registration, rules orientation, lunch, and prizes and awards. Airsoft scenario games are held rain or shine in historical settings, with referees on the field to start and stop play and run the scenarios. These events draw dedicated players from across the region and give newcomers a chance to experience paintball and airsoft at a much bigger scale than a typical afternoon of walk-on play.

Built for Groups and Celebrations

Three Rivers specializes in private play and is a popular spot for birthday parties, bachelor parties, youth groups, school events, corporate outings, and team building. It has been voted the best birthday party in Western Pennsylvania, and the staff works to make hosts the “birthday hero” of the day. Private groups can book seven days a week with reservations. The park offers dedicated youth birthday parties for ages 8–13 and general birthday packages for ages 13 and up, plus large private party rates for groups of 25 or more. A qualified party coach and well-trained staff run the games, and party referees are known for being especially good with kids. Graduation parties, baseball teams, and family reunions are all common bookings.

Comforts Between Battles

The park is a full-service operation with a retail store on site selling markers, barrels, masks, hoppers, and gear. Between games, players can recharge at the snack bar, relax under covered picnic pavilions, or gather around an open campfire to roast hotdogs and marshmallows. Real indoor washrooms, large changing rooms, and free parking round out the practical side. Certified techs are on hand to keep equipment running, and there’s an animated moving target range for sharpening shooting skills. Free Wi-Fi, a chronograph station, and rental gear that’s well maintained and high quality complete the experience. It’s a place equally suited to a family birthday, a corporate team-building day, or a serious scenario weekend.
