Urban Assault Paintball

Urban Assault Paintball sits in McDonald, Pennsylvania, a short drive of about fifteen minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. It’s a family-owned outdoor recreation park that has been in business for more than thirty years and holds the distinction of being the first paintball park in the Pittsburgh area.

Six Fields Across Thirty Acres

The park spreads over thirty acres and is home to six distinct playing fields, each with its own character. Players will find open mounds, wooded terrain, a hyperball field, and airball courses, so there’s a setting for every style of play. The variety keeps things fresh whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned regular. The staging area is thoughtfully laid out with covered carports, picnic tables, and multiple pavilions that keep sun and rain off between games. There are fire pits and grills for those who want to cook their own food, plus clean restrooms, a cleaning station, and free parking. It’s a comfortable, well-organized base camp for a full day outdoors.

Games for Every Age and Skill Level

The core offering is traditional paintball, played year-round on the outdoor fields, with both daytime and nighttime sessions. Night games take place on a turf field under full stadium lighting with surround-sound music, creating an atmosphere you won’t find at most parks. For younger players, there’s GellyBall, a low-impact game using soft gel balls that’s open to kids as young as four. Airsoft is also available for those who prefer a different kind of tactical play, with strategy-driven missions in a supervised setting. The park is known as the home of the Iron City Classic, described as the largest mechanical paintball event in the world, which draws players from far beyond the region. Beginners are genuinely welcome, and low-impact options make it easy for newcomers to ease in.

More Than Just a Game

Beyond the fields, Urban Assault operates a full pro shop called East Coast Paintball Supply, an online and brick-and-mortar store carrying major brands like Dye, Empire, Tippmann, Planet Eclipse, and many others. Custom T-shirts and hoodies can be ordered to commemorate a special event, and gift cards are available for those who want to give the gift of adventure. The park also offers overnight camping packages that combine evening paintball with bonfires, s’mores, and camping under the stars. It’s a one-of-a-kind group experience that goes well beyond a standard afternoon of play. Memberships are available for frequent players, offering free entry to public games and discounted paint for a full year.

Built for Groups and Celebrations

This is a venue that clearly knows how to host a crowd. It has successfully hosted thousands of events, including birthday parties, bachelor parties, youth and church groups, and corporate team-building outings. The staff handles every detail from arrival to cleanup, so organizers can simply enjoy the day. Private groups get their own dedicated referee and can choose from packages that include pizza and soda, making it easy to turn a game into a full celebration. The park’s combination of private fields, covered pavilions, and on-site food options makes it a natural fit for everything from a child’s birthday to a company outing.

A Crew That Keeps You Safe

Safety is taken seriously here, with certified referees present at every game to ensure fair and safe play. The park keeps certified techs on hand to help with equipment, and dedicated chronograph stations are used to adjust markers and keep the playing field level. Rental masks are premium single-pane models with anti-fog coating, and all paintballs used are non-toxic and biodegradable. The team’s experience shows in the details, from the well-maintained fields to the trained staff who guide groups through their day. It’s the kind of place where the people running it are paintballers themselves, and that passion comes through in how smoothly everything runs.
