About

Zero Latency VR at Destiny USA sits on the second floor of the massive Destiny USA mall in Syracuse, New York, across from Eddie Bauer. It opened in May 2023 as part of the mall’s entertainment wing, sharing space with an axe-throwing section called Kiss My Axe.

A Free-Roam Arena Where You Call the Shots

The heart of the venue is a large, open virtual-reality arena where players move completely untethered — no cables, no walls, no barriers. The roughly 2,000-square-foot space lets you walk, run, jump and spin freely while the game world reacts around you, which is what sets this experience apart from sitting-down VR. The arena is designed so the entire floor becomes your stage, with moving platforms and bridges in some experiences that push you to keep exploring. Because the space is shared, sessions are genuinely social. Up to eight players can team up in the same arena at once, working together against common enemies or competing for the top score. The free-roam format means you’re not just watching a screen — you’re physically dodging, aiming and moving through the action alongside your friends.

Games That Put You in the Middle of the Action

The lineup leans heavily on cooperative and competitive shooters. Undead Arena drops you into a zombie horde that you and your squad have to survive, while Engineerium blends action with puzzle-solving in a steampunk-inspired world. Singularity offers another sci-fi adventure, and the venue regularly rotates competitive shooter experiences that let you claim the crown by outscoring your teammates. Each session runs about 15 to 20 minutes of actual gameplay, with time before and after for a briefing and a debrief. Beyond the VR, the same location hosts Kiss My Axe, an axe-throwing section where animated targets are projected onto physical boards. You can toss axes at classic bullseyes, ferocious zombies, or even play a round of tic-tac-toe with a blade — a nice change of pace between VR rounds.

More Than a Game: Parties, Groups and Team Building

The venue is built around groups, which makes it a natural fit for birthdays, corporate events, team-building outings and family gatherings. The cooperative nature of the games encourages communication and teamwork, so it works well for colleagues who want to bond over something more memorable than a meeting. Birthday parties are a particular focus, with packages that can be tailored to different ages and preferences. Because it’s inside Destiny USA, the venue is easy to pair with a full day out — shopping, dining and other mall attractions are all steps away. Groups can book ahead for private events, and the space is flexible enough to handle everything from a casual night out with friends to a structured corporate gathering.

A Team That Keeps You Immersed

The staff at the Syracuse location are consistently praised in reviews for being helpful, kind and patient. Before each session, they walk you through the equipment, safety procedures and game tactics, so even first-timers feel comfortable stepping into the arena. After the game, they help with the debrief, going over scores, strategies and performance so you can compare notes with your teammates. That hands-on guidance matters, because free-roam VR can feel overwhelming at first. The team’s job is to make sure you’re set up correctly and understand the rules before the headset goes on, which keeps the experience smooth and fun from start to finish.

A Place to Gather Before and After the Action

The venue is designed as a social hub, not just a row of headsets. There’s a lounge area where groups can hang out before their session and decompress afterward, reviewing scores and reliving the best moments. The Kiss My Axe section adds another activity to rotate through, so a group can split time between VR missions and axe throwing without leaving the location. Being on the second floor of Destiny USA means there’s no shortage of food, drink and seating nearby if you want to extend the outing. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, running a team-building day or just looking for a different kind of night out, the venue gives you a reason to gather, play and talk about it long after the headset comes off.
