A Field Trip to Remember: Our Class Adventure at LaserMaxx San Jose

Taking our school class to LaserMaxx San Jose turned out to be one of those rare field trips where both students and teachers ended up laughing, running, and competing far more intensely than any of us expected. From the moment we walked in, the noise level jumped through the roof — excited chatter bouncing off the neon lights, kids already forming “teams,” and teachers exchanging the kind of looks that say: Well… here we go.

The arena itself instantly set the tone. Dim corridors glowing with colored lights, fog drifting through ramps and platforms, and a pulsing soundtrack that made even us adults feel just a bit more heroic than usual. Before the briefing was even over, the kids were practically vibrating with impatience. We teachers tried to look composed — but honestly, we weren’t fooling anyone.

The second the first mission started, all sense of “teacher authority” evaporated. The kids shot off in every direction, disappearing into tunnels and appearing on upper platforms like they’d been training for this all year. Meanwhile, we teachers were doing our best to keep up — dodging around corners, whispering strategies that immediately fell apart, and trying not to get ambushed by 12-year-olds with far better reflexes.

At one point I attempted a stealth maneuver behind a barrier, only to be flanked by three students who squealed with laughter as they tagged me repeatedly. Another teacher walked confidently into an open area and instantly became the class’s prime target. Every time a student scored a hit on a teacher, the cheering echoed through the entire arena.

Between missions, the energy didn’t drop for a second. Kids recapped dramatic victories, near misses, and “legendary shots,” while we teachers caught our breath, pretending we weren’t exhausted. The atmosphere was loud, chaotic, joyful — exactly what a school trip should be.

By the time the final game ended, everyone was flushed, sweaty, smiling, and reluctant to leave. The students loved having a place to unleash their competitive spirit, and we teachers loved seeing them work as teams, celebrate each other, and burn off more energy than recess ever could.

Final impression: LaserMaxx San Jose delivered an active, hilarious, fast-paced field trip that our entire class — adults included — will be talking about for a long time.

Rating: 10/10 — unforgettable fun, nonstop action, and the perfect mix of chaos and teamwork.
