Back to CIA Tampa — and It’s Better Than Ever

11/25/2025 obarhatovamailru

I played at Competitive Indoor Airsoft of Tampa a few years ago, and recently decided to make the trip back to see how things have changed. Let me tell you — the evolution is impressive.

What’s New & Improved

Walking back in, I noticed the pro shop immediately felt more stocked and professional. Their gear selection is broader, and the LED armbands they require now are neatly displayed right by the counter — a far cry from when I first came in.
The CQB course, once solid, has been refreshed. The layout feels tighter, with more bunkers, extra walls, and clearer meta on speed and team-based games. It’s obvious they’ve listened to feedback.

Gameplay & Game Modes

They still run over 12 game modes — and the variety feels better balanced now. SpeedQB is still a big deal, and their tournament-grade arena holds up: fast respawns, fluid movement, and more tactical depth than before.

I even joined one of their Speedsoft Sundays this time: non-stop action, tight corner fights, and that special buzz you only feel when you’re pushing hard in a confined space.

Also spotted a few newer game nights like Industry Night, which seems to be gaining traction among regulars.

Facility & Atmosphere

The waiting area has leveled up too. There’s now a climate-controlled viewing lounge, which is a huge plus — great place to rest between matches or watch others play.

They also added a party / meeting room upstairs. Perfect for teams, birthday groups, or just catching your breath with friends after an intense round.

The refs are still super sharp — professional, helpful, and engaged. They kept the same solid energy, enforcing the rules while letting things stay fast and fun.

Pricing & Accessibility

Entry is still around $35 for a full day, which feels fair considering how much the facility has improved.

If you bring your own gear, they chrono everything and help you get set up. If not, their rental package is good — mask, battery, gun, mags — they’ve got all the basics covered.

Final Thought

Returning to CIA Tampa felt like seeing an old friend who’s grown in all the right ways. The field is sharper, the game modes are more exciting, and the community feels even stronger. If you haven’t been in a while — go back. Whether you’re chasing speed, tactics, or just a fun weekend fight, this place is firing on all cylinders.

Rating now: 9.5 / 10. — Even better than my first visit.
