We brought our 8-year-old to LevelUp Reality in downtown Toronto for his very first VR experience, and wow — what a magical afternoon that turned into. According to their policy, kids must be at least 8 years old, and players under 12 need a parent or guardian with them, so we felt totally comfortable being there with him.
When we walked in, the place felt like stepping into a sci-fi movie: sleek stations, neon lights, and that quiet buzz of excitement. The staff greeted us warmly, explained how the gear works, and made sure our kid understood everything before putting on the headset.
His first game was something gentle — a VR mini-golf course that looked like a magical forest. He giggled when he swung, and his little avatar tumbled and floated in ways that made him lean forward in surprise. Before he knew it, he was asking to try a second game.
Next, we let him pick an action-adventure experience. At first, he moved slowly, but once the mission began, he transformed. He ducked, jumped, and “shot” at targets with the biggest grin — all the while turning to us and shouting, “Guys, look!” That spark in his eyes … it was pure joy.
The staff stayed close and supportive, gently guiding him to safe games and reminding him that he could pause if he felt uneasy. We loved how they balanced letting him explore with making sure he was comfortable.
By the end of the session, he came out of the headset grinning from ear to ear. He said, “That was like being inside a movie!” He wanted to go again, and we promised him we absolutely would.
Final thought: LevelUp Reality gave our child a dream-like first VR experience — safe, imaginative, and super fun. For any parent thinking about bringing a young kid into VR, this place is a perfect mix of wonder and security.
